Joseph called Kenny later that day. 

"Kenny, what happened "

"Joseph, I'm sick and tired of Sam, like... Oh my God" She said and started crying again. 

"Kenny, calm down and explain what happened to me"

"Joseph,  you've known me and Sam for a long time, you know I respect him like I would respect my father, if he was alive because he's not just a twin brother, he's truly more of a father to me than anyone would ever be, but then he's taking my simplicity for granted," She said amidst tears.

"How?"

"This is the sixth man, Sam is telling me to break up with."

"Really?"

"You are surprised too. He keeps coming with this 'Holy Spirit says he's not your husband, your husband will come in due season, bla bla bla" She mimicked Sam.

"But now it's a different story, he says Frank is on a mission to destroy me, can you imagine? Everyone that has met Frank agreed that he's a good person, he's responsible, he's caring, he's Godly and he loves me so what else do I want? Chichi, Winifred and the rest agreed that he's okay. Well except for his girlfriend and my so-called mentor." She cried.

"Hmmm... " Joseph sighed.

"Joseph, I'm confused, maybe he wants to marry me because I don't understand, this is crazy, it's freaking me out, Argh." She said angrily.

"Come on" Joseph giggled."Why will he want to marry you"

"I'm seriously telling you what came to my mind, I've thought and thought, and I can no longer think, if we were of same sex, I would have said he's jealous. That's why I think he wants to marry me, we've heard of brothers and sisters doing the abominable, cause this is getting out of hand, it's not normal anymore. It's getting me crazy, I'm 26 for crying out loud. A time will come when these men will no longer come. I'm a woman, I don't have the grace he has." She lamented. 

"Kenny, calm down," Joseph said. 

"I want to ask you a question," He said.

"Ok."

"For how long have you known Sam?" He asked.

"Hun"

"Please answer my question, I'm trying to bring out something "

"Ok. Well, I've known Sam as long as I have  known myself." She answered 

"Good. You would agree with me that Sam is someone who has walked with God, and he hears God. True or false?"

"Yes,  but this is out of it. "She answered. 

"I have known you and Sam since we were kids, you know we grew up together before university separated us."

"Yeah, I know right." she smiled. 

"I agree with you humanly speaking it's not normal for a twin brother to dictate who one to marry to the point that he already turned down six men."

"Thank you" She replied 

 

"I understand your feelings but... " He looked at her. 

"Kenny, if Sam says Frank is not good for you, believe me, Frank is not good for you. Sam is a man of the spirit, We both prayed concerning that guy and I heard the same thing. Sam loves you and he wants the best for you, he prays for you every day and night. I'm his roommate and I'm telling you the truth. Sam loves you, there are times I get jealous of your relationship with your brother, he loves you so much.

And concerning Frank, I want you to think about it deeply, so you won't make mistakes, the worst mistake a man can make is to marry wrong, it will affect your life, your career, you can even miss heaven, even your children will have a share of it, they will blame you for giving them the wrong dad. So please calm down and talk to the heavenly father about it, I'm sure he's preparing a better man for you, but it's not Frank." He concluded,

Kenny was quiet was for sometimes,

"So you all planned to ruin me right? Like you just called me to waste my time. You know what, let this be the last time you will engage me in a discussion in this life, okay? You all should just let me be. I know you are going to support your friend, I didn't know why I answered you in the first place when I have better things to do," She stood up and walked out.

"No, Kenny, come now, it's not like I'm supporting my friend, try to understand," Joseph said after her, but she just walked away. "It is well"

Sam couldn't sleep that night, he was restless, he flashed back to what happened when they were younger...

They had just gotten home after school when they saw a lot of people outside their house.

"Sam, why do we have a lot of people around?" Kenny asked,

"I don't know, let's find out," Sam suggested

They hastened their steps and moved closer to the house, one of their mother's friends came to welcome them,

"Good afternoon ma," They greeted the elderly woman,

"Welcome my children,"

 "What's happening outside? Where are our parents?" Sam asked,

"They had an impromptu program in Port Harcourt so they had to leave,"

"So why do we have so many people outside," Sam asked,

"You don't have to worry about them, something happened in your neighbour's place," Mrs Ani said,

"Why is the whole house scattered?" Sam came again, 

"Samuel, you must be hungry, come have your seat, let me serve you food, okay?" Mrs Ani tried to avoid the questions,

"Can you help me with your phone? I want to call Mum and Dad," 

"No, they went for a ministration, you shouldn't disturb them," Mrs Ani answered, Sam wasn't convinced but he kept quiet, on the other hand, Kenny believed the woman.

"Sam, let's go and eat," Kenny said 

"Really?! Kenny, you have the appetite, you want to eat," Sam asked,

"Yes now, why do you say that?" Kenny asked confused,

"Mum and Dad are missing, and you want to eat," Sam said,

"But Mrs Ani said they travelled,"

"Has mum and dad ever travelled without telling us, you and I know that whenever they want to go for a ministration, they do tell us about a month earlier..." Sam said,

"This is impromptu," Mrs Ani cut in, "Why not stop worrying yourself, Your parents are fine," She said 

"I'm not hungry," Sam said and ran to his room.

Kenny was confused, she ran after her brother,

"Sam, what's going on? Why are you acting like this?" Kenny asked 

"Can't you see? It's crystal clear, it is written everywhere, something is wrong, let's pray for mom and dad," Sam said,

"Okay, bring your hand, let's pray," Kenny said worried, They held their hands together and prayed for their parents.

That night, Sam slept, when he saw their  parents walking away, he ran towards them, but the more he ran, the farther they became, 

"Go back dear, don't worry about us," His father said, "We are in a better place now, go back and be the best, make sure you take care of your sister, be a father to her, make sure she doesn't miss it, Go back son," 

Sam woke up, he needed no soothsayer to tell him his parents were dead. The next morning, he went to Mrs Ani,

"Please, tell me the truth, what happened to my parents?" Sam asked, 

"I told you they travelled..." Mrs Ani started, while Sam interrupted,

"Please, tell me the truth, I saw them, and they told me to take care of my sister, They said they are in a better place now, Please tell me what happened," Sam said,

"Hmmm..." Mrs Ani breathed down heavily then tears started coming out of her eyes.

"Tell me ma, I can take in anything," Sam came in again,

"Your mum was cooking yesterday morning when the gas suddenly caught fire, she tried to put the fire off, but she couldn't till her clothes caught fire,  your father who was in this room studying ran out when he saw smoke and he tried to rescue your mum, his cloth also got cut by the fire, when the neighbours saw smoke they called fire extinguishers and tried to rushed them to the hospital," She paused,

"We couldn't get a taxi on time, by the time, they got to the hospital the doctor said they were brought in dead," Mrs Ani said,

"Nooooooo!" Kenny screamed from outside, She was passing by when she heard Mrs Ani talking to Sam and she listened.

Mrs Ani rushed to her,

"It's okay my dear, I promise to be your mum take heart dear," She said hugging her.

Sam was speechless, he didn't know what to think, and he couldn't help the tears that flowed down his cheeks.

When the news got to their school, they offered them a scholarship till they finished their secondary education.

Sam hustled to meet their basic needs as Mrs Ani and their parents' siblings who promised them everything couldn't keep their promise. He had been following their father to his Shoe and bag-making shop when he was alive, he already mastered the art before his father died, so he took over his father's shop and he was making a lot of money, and he was able to meet their needs. 

Kenny started selling the shoes and bags online when she got to the University, and they made more money.

They were each other's best friend and they were good together, everything had been going fine until Frank came into the picture.

*******Back to the present*******

Tears streamed down his face as he thought.

He remembered what happened in the afternoon, he had not stopped beating himself over what happened, he wished he hadn't said those things in the presence of everyone if only he had calmed down a little bit.

"Oh! God, I was stupid," He cried as hot tears wet his pillow.

Joseph who had been watching him sat up and tapped him, he jolted back to reality, He thought Joseph had slept.

"Sam, it's okay, you don't have to beat yourself over this, you have tried for this lady,"

"I shouldn't have said, what I said," He cried.

 Joseph embraced him, "It's okay Sam, it's okay"
