Tola was pacing around the sitting room with her phone in her ear.

"Dad pick up your call now," she said still pacing around.

"Tola, calm down," Joseph said

"Joseph I'm trying, but it's not working," she answered

"Dad, they already bought the policeman, the other witness you need to hear what he was saying, it was just... as in... Oh my God!" she rushed everything the moment her Dad picked the call.

"Baby calm down, I knew this was going to happen, your boss already told you she would do anything to make her son work out a free man, maybe she has offered the man the money you rejected.

A hundred million Naira is a whole lot of money, it is only a man that has the fear of God that would say No, so calm down my dear, we will not stop praying, God will take control," Adewale said.

"Okay Dad, thank you, sir," Tola answered.

"I need to go now, I'm very busy, I was in the middle of something very important when your call came in, I will call you back in the evening," Adewale said.

"I hope it's not something serious?" Tola said concerned.

"Not at all dear," He answered.

"Okay Daddy, bye" Tola dropped the call.

"But that defence lawyer is something else," Sarah said the moment Tola dropped her phone she had followed her to court.

"He was only doing his job, he was paid for it," Sam answered.

"It's expected of you to defend him, he's your senior colleague," Winifred said.

"That's even true, I believe you won't   be like him," Peter said

"He won't, I trust him," Sarah answered.

"Another defense counsel," Peter said and they laughed. 

"He's a Christian, he will be different," Joseph said.

"Lawyers are liars, regardless of their faith," Omoh said,

"What do you mean by that?" Sam asked looking up sharply at Omoh, everyone laughed.

"Calm down now, wetin happen?" Omoh laughed,

"You people should be serious for once now," Tola shouted as if she wanted to cry.

"Oya Sorry," Peter said,

"Play you need to calm down you have done your part, in fact you have tried, I salute. Now leave God's part for him, you can't help God," Joseph said.

"That's it, you just have to leave it for God," Sam said.

"Done," Juliet sent a message to Kate on WhatsApp.

"Really?!" Kate asked surprised, "That fast?"

'Yeah baby," Juliet said dropping a smile emoji.

"How?"

"There's a saying that when you want to catch a monkey you give it a banana,"  Juliet typed.

"Yes?"

"I simply offered the 'monkey' banana, and I got what I wanted" 

"What banana? Gist me now," Kate asked anxiously.

"Aproko, you do like gist, getat," Juliet said smiling,

"Please nah,"

"Okay, I bought her her dream shoe,  a birthday is coming up in two weeks so there's this shoe she showed me online that she wants to buy, she sent it to her husband to order it for her, I decided to play smart by getting it for her," Juliet typed.

"Really?!"

"Yes, even though the shoe costs a lot, it took one and a half month allowance from me, but I would do anything to get Alex, last last I go collect the money back when I finally become his wife"  Juliet smiled.

"One and a half month allowee?! That's around 50k," Kate typed

"The shoe is 54,000 naira," Juliet said.

"Wawu! That's a lot, you are making a lot of sacrifices on top of this Alex guy o" Kate said surprised.

"Yeah, I would do anything to get Alex," Juliet said.

"In summary sha, the babe collected shoes in exchange for her marriage," Kate typed.

"Abi now," Juliet laughed and dropped a laughing sticker.

"Na who do that kind thing for Bible sef?" Kate asked.

"I think it's Isaac," Juliet answered.

"Isaac kwa, no be Isaac" Kate said laughing.

"Nah Isaac, that guy that gave away his birthright for food," Juliet typed.

"Yes," They both laughed.

"But it's not Isaac sha," Kate came again, then she searched online.
"Na Esau, Isaac na him father" 

"I try small, I mention him papa," 

"Choir member for church, you no fit answer this small question," Kate laughed.

"Who be choir member? Dey play," She typed and they both laughed.

"Anyway, congrats dears" 

"Thanks, dear,"

Isaac, Rachael and Aduke, Tola's grandparents were all seated.  Dave, Tola's fiancee was also around. He had completed his Masters and had returned to Nigeria two days before the party. Alice sat beside Tola, she was having a great time. Nike also came around to celebrate with Adewale, other families and friends had all come and they all sat at different tables.
