"Yes" Mr Boye answered "Ryan is the only child of the proprietress, so she will do everything within her power to make sure her son doesn't go to prison" He said.
"And I want you to know that woman is very rich, powerful and highly connected, so she can get whatever she wants, so I will advise you to take your hands off this case and just face why you are here" Mr Boye advised.

"Hmmm..." Tola breathed heavily "Sir, but..." She was interrupted by a knock.

"Who is there?" Mr Boye asked

"It's me, Mrs Anim" They heard from outside.

"Oh! come in ma" 
The door opened and Gladys entered.

"Good morning Ma, you can have your seat," Mr Boye said.

"That won't be necessary, I want to see Alice," she said fuming.

"Hope no problem ma?" He asked.

"After all I've done for that little witch, that demon-possessed child she finally ruined my home" Gladys said with tears in her eyes.

"I should have just left her in the village with her grandmother when her parents died, I don't know why I brought her to Lagos in the first place.  I need to see her, I want to skin her alive and pull out that lying tongue of hers" she fumed demonstrating with her hand as she spoke.

"You need to calm down ma, please have your seat." Mr Boye said.

Gladys sat down wiping her tears.

"What happened?" Mr Boye asked.

"Alice lied against my husband that he has been sleeping with her, my husband is not a paedophile, he is not" She broke down in tears again.

"Calm down Mrs Anim, consider your condition," Mr Boye said.

"I'm calming down, that's why I'm still sitting here"

"Madam" Tola spoke for the first time since Gladys came in.
"She said she told you your husband was sleeping with her, you believed her at first but when your husband came in with a different story choose to believe him," Fehintola said giving  Gladys a straight face.

"Who are you?" Gladys asked.

"I'm Fehintola, Alice's Biology teacher"

"Oh! Are you the evil corper that connived with my niece to ruin my home?" Gladys stood up slowly moving towards Tola.

"Not really" Tola answered "I'm the cor who is determined to send as many paedophiles as possible to prison" Tola said.

"My husband is not a paedophile!" Gladys screamed.

"He slept with an 8-year-old girl" Tola answered.

"That's a lie! You devil!" Gladys screamed again grabbing Tola's shirt.

"Madam please calm down, madam please, you shouldn't do all this with your condition" Mr Boye pleaded trying to get Tola out of Gladys' grip.

Fehintola also struggled to get herself out of Gladys' grip and she was able to move away from her.

"My husband is not a paedophile, don't you all get it?"  Gladys said raising her voice.

"So your niece is the lying devil?" Fehintola came again.

"He is my husband!" Gladys shouted

"She's your niece" Tola countered.

"I should believe him first before anyone" Gladys said again.

" she was just eight and couldn't have cook up that lie" Tola countered again.

"I have been living with my husband a long time before she came to stay with us"

"That still doesn't give you any reason to discard the poor girl's words," Tola said.

"Your husband molested her for years and she ran to you as a sweet auntie that she thought you were, but all you could do was send her to the boarding school to save your so-called home'" Tola said quoting the 'home' with her finger.

"She saw you as the only mother she had left but you proved her wrong," Tola whispered.

 Gladys could no longer hold her tears, they flooded her face in no minutes.

"All she needed was a voice but you silenced her, she suffered depression for years she felt no one loved her" 

" I'm sorry"  Gladys whispered. " I just wanted to keep my home"

" I hope that  girl heals anytime soon because  a great damage has been done already" Tola said.

"I'm sorry, can I see her?" Gladys pleaded.

"You wanted to skin her alive and pull out her tongue a few minutes ago" Tola said.

"I'm sorry."

Tola went out and saw a student passing by she sent him to get her Alice.  Alice came into the principal's office a few minutes later and fear gripped her when she saw Gladys, it was written on her face.
 
"Alice, my dear, please come, I'm sorry," she said spreading her hands.

 Alice looked up at Tola and the latter nodded.

She moved close to her aunt and entered her opened arm. 

"I'm sorry" Gladys muttered.

"Babe, what's  up?" Juliet was chatting with Kate on WhatsApp.

"I dey o" Kate replied.

"There's something I want to tell you" Juliet said.

"What's that?" Kate asked.

"It's Sam" 

"That Sam again?!" Kate asked surprised.

"Yes"

"I told you I saw him following me the other day"

"Yeah, you did"

"Just yesterday, after closing from work, I wanted to enter into our lodge when I overheard him telling Chidinma to be careful with me"

"What?!"

"Yeah, Thank God that one is dumb, she just told him not to be not to worry about me" Juliet said.

"Really?!" Kate said laughing. 

"Yes, my dear"

"Hmmm..." Kate sighed. "It's like that Sam is jobless, let's get him a job before he spoils our plans," Kate said 

"How?" Juliet asked.

"Just be calm, I will send you the update later, we have to keep him busy!" Kate said.

Isaac, Rachael and Aduke, Tola's grandparents were all seated.  Dave, Tola's fiancee was also around. He had completed his Masters and had returned to Nigeria two days before the party. Alice sat beside Tola, she was having a great time. Nike also came around to celebrate with Adewale, other families and friends had all come and they all sat at different tables.
