Chidinma and Alex had set out for Abuja on Friday morning, to meet Alex's parents. They got there in the evening, everyone was happy to meet Chidinma. Chidinma loved Alex more when he met his family. His parents are entertaining and his younger sister was also very happy to meet Chidinma. 

"You are beautiful" She complimented

"Thank you" Chidinma smiled 

Annie, Alex's sister rushed to set the table and they all went to eat dinner, while everyone asked about Chidinma's family.

The next morning, Annie took Chidinma along with her to the gym. 

"Chichi, there's something I would like to tell you" Annie started

"Ok. I'm listening" Chidinma answered.

"I notice you and Alex loves each other so much," She said and Chidinma smiled.

"If you want to marry Alex, get pregnant for him" Annie advised

"What?! Pregnancy?" Chidinma asked Annie confused, she hated ladies who get pregnant out of wedlock and had planned to have all her babies in marriage.

"Yes, I have never told any of his girlfriends this, though he doesn't bring them home, you are the first lady he's bringing home which shows that he loves you and has plans for you. I've watched you closely since you came in last night and I know you will be a good sis-in-law and I won't want to lose you" Annie paused and then continued 

"But Alex is covetous if he goes for NYSC and finds a woman better than you, he will dump you for her" Annie dropped, the last sentence hitted Chidinma.

"What if I get pregnant and he still doesn't marry me?" Chidinma asked confused.

"That's not possible, Alex loves babies, and he has always said something since we were kids, If he impregnates a woman, even if he doesn't love her, he will marry her. So my dear sister, if he mistakenly impregnates another woman, that's all" Annie concluded and continued her workout to indicate the conversation was over.

"Thank you" Chichi whispered.

"You're welcome" Annie smiled.

The next morning was on a Sunday, and Alex and Chidinma traveled back to Anambra. Chidinma couldn't take Annie's words out of her mind and she's being thinking of how to get pregnant for him, but it was going to be hard because Alex gives her pills after every intercourse. She's been thinking hard about how to go about it.

"Babe, what's going on?" Alex asked when he noticed she was being quiet which is unusual.

"Nothing" She answered 

"If you need anything, let me know," He said

"Alright dear" She smiled 

She continued thinking about what to do, then something dropped into her mind, and she smiled.

Chidinma suddenly started demanding sex unlike her, Alex noticed this.

"Babe, what's up? You are not this sex-driven person before, what changed?" He asked even though he's been enjoying it.

"I just want to keep my man, you do complain I'm not good in bed. If I at least satisfy you, I will see what you will be looking for in another woman." She answered.

"Chichi," Alex said laughing.

Chidinma keeps the drugs Alex gives her at the corner of her mouth and goes to spit it out later. She went to get a pregnancy test strip, and after seven months of constant sex, Chidinma tested positive. She went to the hospital to confirm it. Then she went straight to Alex's place, he hugged her.

"Welcome dear, I was about to call you," He said happy to see her, then he started kissing her.

"Alex wait, I want to tell you something," she said looking serious.

"What's that?" He asked wondering what it could be

"I'm pregnant" she dropped.

"You're what?" He asked and started laughing.

"Is it funny?" She asked already looking angry.

"Babe, please tell me it's a joke," He said.

"It's not, I've gone to see a doctor," She said giving him the result.

"It's like you are serious," Alex said when she handed him the result.

"Of course, I'm four weeks pregnant," She said.

"Wait, you have not been taking the pills I've been giving you?" He asked and she looked away, then it dawned on him that Chidinma got pregnant intentionally.

"But why now? Why are you doing this?"

"You keep giving me pills so that it will destroy my womb, so after I can't conceive again, you will go marry another woman that will bear you children" Chidinma attacked

"What nonsense are you saying?" Alex asked confused

"Alex see if you don't want this baby, let me know, I will raise it alone" Chidinma blurted again

"Wait first, who told you that pills I gave you will destroy your womb? Where did you learn that from? That pill doesn't destroy the womb, it only makes semen weak, so it won't form babies. That's all" Alex explained

"Really? How come I didn't get pregnant all this while? I stopped taking that pills seven months ago, at first I was afraid, thinking it had destroyed something in my body. If I had continued those pills, I might have been barren for life" She said with tears in her eyes. Alex felt for her, but a friend had introduced the pills to him and he said his girlfriend got pregnant the first time he forgot to give her the pills.

"Honestly, this is just a coincidence, at least we have people that do not take pills at all and still do not get pregnant" Alex explained.

"I'm sorry, thank God you are pregnant now, at least I'm free now, but..." He frowned.

"But what?" Chidinma eyed him.

"I know I'm the father of that baby in your womb, but I'm not ready for anything now," He said

"So what do you suggest I do?" She asked already boiling inside of her.

"We will keep it, it's my child and I will take responsibility," He said

"What about me?" She asked

"I don't get it," He asked confused

"Any plans concerning marriage? Or will I just be your baby mama?" She asked

"No dear, I love you, you are going to be my wife, but that will be after we are both through with school. You will have the baby now and we will get married later" He explained

"No way!" Chidinma fumed "I will not have my child out of wedlock" She fired at him

"And why did you get pregnant out of wedlock?" Alex asked angrily. "Young lady, you have to do as I say, we will register you for ante-natal till you give birth, but we are not getting married until I'm ready. And if you want marriage, you can go marry someone else, but I will collect my child from you" Alex blew hot with her, this was the first time Alex was getting angry with her. Chidinma couldn't believe her ears, Alex had never shouted at her.

"Alex, it's me Chichi" she whispered "Wow!" She said and ran out of the house in tears.

Alex had thought she was going to calm down and obey him, then he saw that Chidinma was desperate. He ran after her.

"Babe, I'm sorry" He held her tightly after getting her.

"Leave me alone, I see you don't love me, don't worry I will abort this pregnancy" she cried

"What?! Heaven knows I love you, please don't abort it, I'm only scared, and besides we still both have a long way to go" He explained. "Please just follow what I say please" He pleaded.

"Ok. I've heard." She said even though she had her plans.

"Thanks, dear, I love you," He said kissing her tears away.

"I love you too" She smiled.

Chidinma called Annie when she got to her Lodge and explained everything to her.

"Wow! Just calm down my dear, you are already his wife," Annie said happily and dropped the call. She told her parents about it and they called Alex immediately.

"You want to have your child outside wedlock?" His mum asked, "You want your child to grow up not knowing you?" She asked.

"Mum, you know..." He tried to explain when his father interrupted.

" When you know you aren't ready for marriage, why did you go into a sexual relationship?" His father asked

"Dad, I'm sorry"

"Start coming home, we have to go and meet Chidinma's family," His father said finally

"What?! What about my youth service?"

"Didn't you think about it before putting yourself in the family way, I have a daughter too, and I won't allow you to treat another man's daughter anyhow. Bye," His father, Chief Coker said and hung up before he could say anything.

Alex was very angry, he called Chidinma immediately.

"Why did you tell my parents?" He asked trying not to raise his voice at her.

"I didn't tell them, I only told Anabel" She answered.

"Really?! So because you already met my family, you think you can just call them anyhow?" He asked angrily.

"Alex, where is this coming from? Is this the first time I'm calling your people and you never complained, so why the sudden change? And besides don't tell me you were planning not to tell your parents about my pregnancy" she asked confused.

"I planned on telling them but not this way, you should have told me before calling anyone, I planned on traveling home this weekend to table it before them in a subtle way. But you spoiled everything and I know you did it intentionally."

"How? I don't get you" Chidinma asked feigning ignorance.

"Oh! You don't know what you did right? Chichi you're trying to prove smart and I want you to know that you are not smart at all. And there's one thing you don't know, I'm a man, no one can force me to do what I don't want to do, not even my parents. And, if you frustrate me, I won't marry you." He said and hung up.

Chidinma was surprised, she suddenly became afraid. She went to his place and begged him on her knees with tears in her eyes.

"Alex, please forgive me, I'm sorry" She cried.

 Alex doesn't like seeing tears in a woman's eyes especially if it's a woman he loves. Her tears melted his heart and he drew her to himself and hugged her passionately.

"It's okay dear. I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you on the phone, I was just joking, I love you and I can't afford to lose you to another man." He paused and looked at her face and then smiled "Well, you won already, my parents said I should start coming home, so we can start our wedding plans immediately" Alex smiled. To Chidinma that was the best news of that year, as tears of joy rolled down her cheeks.

Alex and Chidinma got married two months later and she gave birth to two bouncing baby girls seven months after their wedding. Chidinma thought she had won, but little did she know that she had put herself in a hitch. 

Alex comes home smelling of lady's perfume most times, Chidinma sees lipstick on his clothes and whenever she accuses him, all he does is apologize and promise to change, but they were all empty promises. Then it dawned on Chidinma that marriage doesn't change a man.

Chidinma gave her life to Christ when she got to 400 level, that was when she realized her marriage was laid on a faulty foundation. She could not divorce him, she had since then been praying for the salvation of her husband. 

Now that Juliet is interested in Alex, Chidinma is afraid because Juliet has all the physical characteristics her husband wants in a woman. She has this kind of attractive body that even a woman will look at her twice. To crown it all, Juliet is fair and very beautiful, she's also endowed. She has this seductive look and step that makes men fall for her at first sight. 

Chidinma vowed her husband will never come to visit her at the Corper's Lodge.
