EPISODE 4 (Not edited)

Fehintola had been posted to one of the big schools around there, it’s a day and boarding school, and she was to teach the senior secondary school Biology. 

She resumed work immediately, she was teaching the student Nutrition as that was where the previous teacher stopped, she taught in a way everyone liked, and all the students were impressed as even the dullest in the class understood her but there was a student in the class, who was just staring into space, Fehintola had been noticing this but she tried not to call her at first, then when it was time to ask questions, she called her name.

“Alice” she didn’t hear, she called thrice then she moved to her table and hit the table it to call her attention, that was when she became conscious of her environment.

"You are lost? Why? What are you thinking about”

“Nothing, I’m sorry ma”

“What is nutrition?” Fehintola asked, Alice looked down.

“Ok, read it out from your note”

She kept looking down.

“Something is wrong somewhere,” Fehintola thought 

“Come with me,” She said packing her things and moving out of the class. She took her to the staff room and luckily for her, all the other teachers are not around.

“Sit down” Fehintola offered Alice a seat 

“What’s wrong with you?"

“Nothing ma”

“Are you sure”

“Yes ma”

“So, why were you lost in class, I’m sure you didn’t even hear anything this morning”

“I’m sorry ma, I was just tired”

“Being tired doesn’t make you lost, you are not telling me the truth, talk to me, I will help you” Fehintola persisted.

 Alice went mute and didn’t say any more word.

Fehintola was confused, she was thinking of how to get words from her mouth when she saw other teachers coming in, her plan had failed.

“Corper Tola, how was your class today” One of the teachers greeted.

“It was fine thank you ma”.

 The teacher  noticed Alice “You have noticed her too, she’s always lost in class, we have all decided to leave her, she’s not going to talk, so just leave her” Mrs. Akiode, the physics teacher said,

“I wonder if she has children, or she’s married?” Mr. Ryan, the mathematics teacher said.

Alice turned and eyed him badly, Fehintola saw this and concluded that apart from being depressed, Alice doesn’t have respect for elders, so she told her to go to her classroom and decided not to ask her anything again.

Fehintola got back to the lodge after school to find everyone in the sitting room. Juliet and Sarah had just finished fighting, Sarah had come back from work, she wanted some movies, so she asked if anyone had American movies, Juliet said she had, so Sarah gave her Flashdrive to help send in some movies, by the time she got the flash, she saw twelve movies, she was very happy, so she went to her room to watch, only to find out all was pornography. Sarah was annoyed and went to her room to call her all sorts of names.

“You are shameless, a whore” Sarah said as she kept on insulting her.

Juliet was also angry, and she went to pull Sarah by the hair, Sarah landed a slap on her face, and it resulted in a big fight, Winifred tried to separate them but she couldn’t, so she went to call Chidinma and Kenny.

“I don’t have the strength, I think you should get the guys” Kenny answered her. Chidinma on the other side was trying to separate them but she couldn’t as they were stronger than her.

 Winifred went to call the guys from the other flat, and they succeeded in separating them, even though Sam was angry to find Sarah fighting, Sarah looked at him and saw the anger on his face, she looked away, she wished she didn't ask for any movie in the first place. That was when Fehintola came in.  

“What happened?” Omoh asked, Sarah explained everything 

“Ahn-ahn!” everyone exclaimed.

“Those are the kind of movies I watch, she should have told me the kind of movies she wanted” Juliet defended herself shamelessly.

“Will you keep quiet, don’t you have shame at all”

 Joseph scolded her “But, Sarah, you could have just deleted the movies and forget about it, instead of fighting, if Winifred hadn’t come to come to call us, you might have even naked yourself” Joseph added facing Sarah.

“I’m sorry, I was angry with her even before this whole thing happened,” Sarah confessed.

“She told Fehintola that I am deadly, that I can kill when I’m angry, so I wanted to show her how deadly I am” Fehintola gasped on hearing this.

“How did she know?” Juliet thought, Fehintola must have told her, she decided to implicate Fehintola too. 

“It was Fehintola that asked me who Sarah was, that she was afraid of sleeping in the same room with her because she's from the North”

“Me?! When did I tell you that?” Fehintola shouted, she couldn’t believe her ears.

“Juliet, you are evil, Fehintola was standing outside when you went to meet her, and started running your mouth like tap water, Sarah and I were sitting here when we saw you going to meet her, and we decided to follow you,” Kenny said and brought out her phone, she had recorded everything Juliet said, she played it to everyone’s hearing.

“Juliet, when did I ever tell you that Sarah is deadly,” Sam asked after listening to the record.

 Juliet couldn’t say anymore thing, she knew she had been caught red-handed.

“And guys, which of you am I dating bikonu?” Chidinma asked.

“This lady wants to break my home, if my husband hears this, what do you think will happen?” Chidinma said

“Juliet, be careful, if you go into marriage like this, they will send you out in one month, we have barely spent two weeks here and you have caused a lot” Joseph scolded her.

“I’m sorry” She said looking down.

“Sarah, Chichi, Kenny, Fehintola  please pardon her, she’s sorry” Joseph said.

“Are you her spokeperson, atleast she have mouth nah, let her apologize herself” Kenny said.

“I’m sorry” she apologized.

“Ladies she’s sorry” 

Everyone just hissed.

“That’s the problem I have with ladies, una too dey keep grudge, she said she's sorry.” Omoh said.

“That’s if she’s truly sorry” Sarah said.

“We were at the camp together, she caused trouble between three people at the camp, she said she was sorry too, I just hope she’s truly sorry this time.” Sarah concluded.

“Sarah, come with me” Sam said walking out of the sitting room, Sarah followed obediently. He walked to a stream down the street, that’s where they go to whenever they want to receive fresh air.

“Why did you fight her, you are a Christian for Christ sake, you shouldn’t fight.”

“I’m sorry, I was angry”

“You are always sorry Sarah, when will you stop fighting” He asked obviously displeased with her attitude.

“I’m sorry” She said looking down.

“Sarah, please try to change, fighting is not a characteristic of a child of God please”

“I’m sorry, I will change”

“It’s alright” Sam smiled at her and he threw a joke at her and they both laughed till they got back to the lodge.

           

Sarah got to the room and met Fehintola praying, she sat beside her and waited for her to finish. 

“I’m sorry” Fehintola said.

“For what, you didn’t do anything wrong, I knew all what happened that night that was why I told you to be careful” Sarah said.

“One more thing, I love your maturity, you were wise enough to be just be the hearer, you kept quiet through out, if not she will have used your word again” Sarah concluded 

“Exactly my dear…Thank you." She paused "Sarah" She called.

"Yes"

"I want to know more than just your name” Fehintola said 

Sarah was surprised, she doesn’t have friends, because she gets angry easily, so she decide to stay on her own, the only friend she ever had was Sam whom she met in the university.

“As times goes on, you will know me” Sarah smiled.

“No problem, one more thing” Fehintola tried to stretch the conversation.

“What’s that?”

“Are you going to teach me Hausa?”

“Really?! You want to learn Hausa?” she asked obviously happy.

“Yes” Fehintola was happy she was able to see another side of Sarah.

“I will only the condition that you will teach me Yoruba”

“I will happily do that."

Juliet was angry all through the night, she felt humiliated.

“Those girls think they can insult me and go scot free. I will make them know the stuff I am, made of, as for that Chidinma, I only wanted to share her husband before, but now I’m going to have him all to myself and I will see what she or anyone will do about it. That Kenny that think she’s smart too, she will hear from me” She thought with tears in her eyes.
