"ONCE UPON A TIME"

" How forceful are the right words!" Doctor Emma said to Lara as she kept muttering negative words.
" I am finished! I hope this baby doesn't kill me ooo" Lara screamed in between her pain pangs
" Can you stop this negativity?" Doctor Emma screamed at Lara. It wasn't professional of him but he needed to do it.
Lara could not be blamed as the excruciating pain she was feeling was second to none.
The pain was piercing...The delivery was not her first. The delivery of her first child was so easy she wondered what the fuss had been about going to the Labour room. Her delivery was as painless as passing out stool.
The way her mother had prepared her for the pain was like preparing one's mind for war, but Tade came out peacefully....
Here she was battling for her life with the arrival of the boy she had hoped for. All she wanted were two babies. Male and female. Fortunately, she already had a girl; Tade. Her prayers had been answered.
She could see the nurses' frowns. They seem perplexed at her situation...
" The cord is around the baby's neck" She heard her favourite nurse say to the doctor on his arrival.
" Step back please!" Doctor Emma said...
Lara observed the look on her Doctor's face. She could read a lot on his face; from Concern, Confusion, fear, uncertainty, all in one.
" Doctor! Will I be fine?"
" Lara, you will be fine. I need you to relax. " Doctor Emma had said.
Doctor Emma was one of those who had received training from the missionary midwives, he had heard about ceasarian sections but he didn't know how to perform it. Lara was the wife of his nephew, the family could not lose her. She was a good woman...
Doctor Emma knew the only way out was to cut Lara brutally...
" Lara, you will feel a lot of pain, because I will need to cut you very well...All I need you to do for me is to say positive words... Say Jesus help me... Oh God that parted the red sea, part me right now and let this baby come out with ease."
Lara muttered the words out as Doctor Emma had said. The words didn't reduce the pain.... She got to experience what the meaning of pain was. It was worse than what her mother had explained.
Doctor Emma cut Lara so much, his full hand went into her and carefully brought out the baby who was about to be choked by the placenta...
It was a success, Mojiyabi was born crying so loudly. MOJIYABI meant ( I bore him in pain).
Lara gave him that name the moment the baby was placed in her hands.
" Why give him such a name?" Doctor had asked
" It is to remind me of the pain I had while having him." Lara replied.
" Why remember or dwell on the pain why not the on the success of the delivery? Why not name him OLUWASEUN?" Doctor Emma pushed
" No, Uncle, his name is Mojiyabi, if you are not comfortable with calling it in full, just call him Moji." Lara said
The next three months was the worse time of her life. It took three months before she could heal up, she had to sit on steaming hot water everyday as that was the practice in their village.
The belief was that the steam of the hot water will hasten the healing of the privates of a woman. This made her insist that everyone call the boy Moji, as the pain she was experiencing was unbearable.
" Mojiyabi.... Welcome!" Lara had said back at the Hospital after waving Doctor Emma's word of caution.
Nurse Gloria took the register and wrote the baby's name ....
MOJIYABI ADENUGA ...
