Janet could tell that the marriage was not going to work. She knew something was going to make even the wedding a flop...

As she stood before the priest. She wanted to scream ....

" This marriage will not work...Please stop it now" She couldn't tell how she knew but she could swear the marriage would fail.

She wanted to say those words so badly but from looking at the priest to everyone present at the wedding, Janet knew she couldn't be a KILL JOY at that point.

" Do you Janet Kolawole take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband..."

" I DO!" Janet cut in, her life was full of misery as it was , so she didn't want the priest affirming that her marriage was going to be that. She didn't want the priest proclaiming any shade of negativity in form of " For better , for worse"

She was hoping for the best in this marriage!

Ayomide saw her best friend's countenance. She could tell Janet wanted the ceremony to be over. Janet looked like someone stepping on glass.

Ayomide who was the Chief bridesmaid found Janet's ear and whispered...

" Relax, everything will be fine, Nothing terrible has happened.."

Janet nodded in agreement.

The next few minutes affirmed Ayomide's words. The ceremony was peaceful but a cry from outside the church building confirmed to Janet she had been right all along....

She left the altar in a rush, her husband chased after her.

" Janet! Stay back!" Her aunt said blocking her way.

" What happened?"

" I don't think it is anything that concerns you!" Her aunt said

" Aunty something happened out there, those who rushed out are yet to return here"

" And So?"

" Babe... everything is fine..." Austin said

A cry that proved otherwise followed Austin's words of assurance.

" Can someone tell me what is happening out there?" Janet screamed.

" Let me go have a look" Ayomide offered to go..

Two minutes later, the church was empty, everyone had left, leaving the bride, the groom, and the Bride's aunt in the church.

Ayomide didn't return as well...

" What is keeping them outside?" Janet's Aunt said. At that point she looked like she was beginning to see the need to go out....

" I am going ..." Janet said pushing her aunt aside...

"Happy Married life!" The crowd cheered....

Janet saw a brand new luxury limited edition car she could have only ever imagined in her dream.

On it was a large poster...

" From Austin to you!"

Janet's legs buckled...she sat on the floor in excitement. Austin picked her up...

" Babe as long as you are with me, nothing terrible can ever happen to you..."

Janet saw Ayomide's smile, it was obvious they were all into it...

" Thank you" was all she could whisper

" No thank you for agreeing to be my wife"

As Austin took a step forward without looking forward, but looking backwards at Janet with the intention of leading her to the car, he lost balance.

All Janet remembered seeing was Austin falling and her hand losing the grip of his fingers....

Austin fell and in what looked liked a dream, he died instantly...

Janet 's world paused in that moment. Ayomide looked at her friend and for the first time since she had been friends with Janet, she confirmed her friends words....

" Janet is really cursed!" Ayomide muttered.

Austin was the best thing that had ever happened in Janet's life and just like other good things that never stayed long with her, Austin too had ended his stay with her...

Janet sat on the church's stairs and stared on like a zombie. She saw humans as flashes of light...She heard words like distant sound... She felt the rough touch of people on her skin like the faint touch of a feather....

" I am cursed! Today has confirmed it more!"
