"ONCE UPON A TIME"

Janet saw the flickering of light from her half closed eyes. She had just woken up from what seem like a long nap.

" Where am I?" She asked herself as she struggled to make sense of where she was.

She turned to her side and the picture of where she was looked like a hospital.

" Hospital? What am I doing here?"

Ayomide raised her head following Janet's sudden voice. She had been sleeping on the couch for days waiting for her friend to finally wake up. Janet's Aunt had left for the night.

"Janet! " Ayomide said

" Ayo...where am I?" Janet asked

" Thank God, you are awake...Finally after 3 days..."

" 3 days? What happened to me?"

" That's not necessary right now, let me make a few calls!" Ayomide said

" Call...Who do you want to call? You should call Austin firs...ttt" Janet was saying when she suddenly had a pause...

" Austin?"

Austin's fall at her wedding flashed through her mind and her heart started racing.

" Austin? Where is he?" Janet asked looking into Ayomide's eyes for answers...

" He...he....fell..." Ayomide said trying to avoid the dreaded word...

" And?" Janet pushed

Ayomide shook her head in the negative. She couldn't bring herself into saying the word...

" Austin is dead? I said it, I told you something terrible was going to happen to me...I told you I was cursed but you didn't listen. I told you happiness was not meant for me, but you didn't listen...Now Austin suffered for my bad luck...God what have I done to deserve this Ill luck everywhere I go?" Janet screamed. She was going into a fit.

Ayomide tried to pin her down but the strength Janet had was like that of 10 men put together...

" Nurse! Doctor!" Ayomide screamed for help...

The Nurses rushed in to rescue Ayomide from Janet. She was immediately Sedated.

Janet drifted back to sleep. In between that journey, she began to see herself back in her university days. She remembered the top she saw herself wearing. What she was seeing was like a flashback of what had happened back then.

The drowsy effect of the sedative was very strong on Janet; she was trying hard to see what was been revealed to her.

Glory and Micheal!

She remembered her two course mates. Glory was both her roommate and course mate, while Micheal was their Class rep.

Micheal was so loving and he was everyone's sweetheart. He was the kind of Class representative that went the extra mile for his classmates, so it therefore didn't make sense to Janet that he would unfortunately fall in love with a cheat like her roommate.

Janet saw Glory for who she was, she was dating someone else outside school and instead of letting Micheal in on her relationship outside school, she led him on. She neither gave him a Yes or a No. Instead she kept siphoning him for money. He was the one doing her assignments and projects for her.

Janet who had inherited the activist Spirit from her Dad, couldn't keep her mouth shut. She approached Micheal and spilled the beans. She told him everything Glory was up to. She even encouraged him to go online and search on the boyfriend's page.

Micheal was heartbroken and from that moment he stopped talking to Glory... Meanwhile, Glory's boyfriend jilted her and Glory was hoping to return to Micheal as a second option that he was, but Micheal was no longer interested.

Janet struggled with sleep as she wanted to see more....

Sleep won!

10 years earlier....

Glory wept sore after Micheal told her it was her roommate that spoilt her chances with him.

It was 3 years after their graduation that Glory bumped into Micheal again. She had gone job hunting. It was earth shattering for Janet when she sat face to face with the MD of the company. She had been shocked when the Receptionist told her the M.D wanted to see her.

" Micheal!" Glory had stood transfixed at the center of the office hoping the earth would open up and swallow her...

Micheal had been courteous and pleasant to her.

Glory couldn't help but notice his wedding ring and Wedding frame.

" So fast! In three years, you are married and now an M.D"

" Since you were more into Sesan Craig, I decided to move on. Claiming My father's inheritance made a demand on me to be married. "

"Sesan Craig? Who is that? You were the one who went cold on me!" Glory hid her shock as she feigned ignorance. She never mentioned Sesan Craig to Micheal back in school, so she was wondering how he knew about him.

" Don't go pretending on me, your roommate Janet let me in on the gist. She saved me from the emotional torture and waste of time."

" Janet!"

Glory wept as she walked back home.

" Janet, I am going to show you over righteous fool a lesson!" Glory swore....
