THE EVANGELIST…PART 17

My head ached. Not because there were untouched files on my table but because Ifunaya and Kauna had caused me a headache. Just the other day, we all went out to a restaurant, Ifunaya had called Kauna a village girl because she didn't want to use the cutlery set to eat. Instead, she used only a spoon. Kauna got angry and left the restaurant. The other thing that made my head ache again was the incident that happened in the kitchen a few days ago. Kauna was preparing her local meal for me and Chinedu when Ifunaya dropped by. She strolled into the kitchen and began to insult Kauna not knowing that I was eavesdropping. She called her a whore and that we were already engaged. Kauna had dashed into her room crying. I was mad at Ifunaya that I told her that we were never engaged. She drove out and never called back.

The only other thing that ached my head was the fact that I was moving my mind over Kauna. She seldom spoke to me and she claimed that she was leaving before the new year.

"That was not the plan Kauna." I pleaded.

"I know but I need to leave sir."

Even though Chinedu tried to pacify her, she still insisted. But I was a bit jittery about what I wanted to do at the close of the day. I texted Kauna as soon as it was few minutes past six PM.

Get prepared for dinner tonight. Wear anything.

She did wear something. She wore a jean trouser and a nice burgundy blouse.

"You smell and look good." A smile tugged at my lips.

"Thanks." She resumed scrolling through her phone.

I sighed and hoped that dinner would be profitable.

Finally, we got to the restaurant, and we settled into our seats while waiting for the waiter to bring our orders.

"I'm sorry for everything Kauna. Everything I have put you through since you came." I held her hands and willed her to focus on me.

"It's fine. Besides I'm leaving now so that you can have enough time with your wife to be."

I chuckled.

"What's funny?"

"You." I liked the way her eyes shone beneath the yellow restaurant bulb. This was how I saw it in the dream. I proposed to her beneath the yellow bulb in a restaurant. "I never thought that I would be asking you this. You have been a friend, a sister, and a mother to me. And I was thinking that if I made you my wife, we would do forever together." U ended my speech.

The muscles on her face looked tensed. "What are you trying to say?"

"Will you please, do me the honour of marrying me?" A tear slide down her face.

"Yes!" I hugged her. No one clapped because we sat in a secluded spot and I had no ring to present to her.

But God clapped because I heard him clearly say. "You are now in my will."

It was from then that I understood that, if you do the heartbeat of God which is evangelism, he will settle you. Kauna and I didn't stop evangelizing. Even when we had our two kids, we would evangelize with our kids even though we were not pulpit ministers. All that matters was the fact that our lives were sold out to God.

Is your life sold to God? Do his work and watch him do yours!

THE END!
