MORE THAN A CARVING CHAPTER 18

MORE THAN A CARVING
CHAPTER 18
Fullhouse got back from work and the aroma that greeted his nostrils was something he couldn’t resist, he inhaled deeply all over again as he traced the aroma that was coming from the kitchen. Ireoluwa was humming and singing as she poured her heart into the food she was cooking. “What’s going on here, I hope I didn’t miss any anniversary.” He said and Ireoluwa turned and flashed him a smile. “Welcome my prince charming……. How’s work today?” “Fine…..” He said trying to peep into what his wife was cooking.” “Well…..to answer your question, you didn’t miss any anniversary. It’s just that I feel like spoiling my husband tonight.” She said seductively. “Really……” He said looking at the revealing gown his wife was putting on, a very skimpy and clingy one at that. “Now, go shower and come back as I serve you the first course here on the dining and then we’ll move to the bedroom, where I’ll serve the second course and I promise you, it will be so delicious that you’ll keep begging for more even when you are full.” She said as she ran her hands over his body and stopped at his third leg which reacted to the touch instantly. “Wow, I can’t wait then.” “Now rush up, food is best serve hot.” She said and he rushed into their bedroom. As he entered into the room another alluring fragrance hit his nostrils, he inhaled it calmly and relaxed, he looked around, the bed sheet has been changed into a colorful one, an adorable baby’s image was on the bed sheet and Fullhouse couldn’t help but touch it tenderly. He took his bath and went back to the sitting room; the light was off save the reflection of the light coming from the dining. The table was already set and the two settle down to eat the delicacy set before them and by the time Fullhouse picked the meat and took a bite, he was shocked. “Bushmeat!” He exclaimed and she nodded and smiled. “How did you get this?” “This is Ile-Ife. One can easily comeby stuffs like this here unlike Lagos.” Ireoluwa reminded him. “Wow. Good.” His eyes widened as he devoured the food before him. Ireoluwa excused herself and went to into the bedroom and returned in a jiffy as the two continued with their food, soon they finished eating. She stood up to clear the table and he wanted to join her. “No, no, no. Just go to the bedroom. After you……” She said seductively, winking at him. By the time he got to the room, the halogen light had been changed, the serenadeturned him on the more; he was still processing everything in his head and then his wife showed up. She pulled up her dress revealing only her panties. Fullhouse took a fast stride towards her and took her lips and kissed her passionately, ever since the miscarriage issue, their sex life has been boring all because Ireoluwa never give her all into it, she always protests the use of protection. Fullhouse lifted her off the floor and carried her gently on the bed where he started undressing himself, when he was done he took off the little clothing left on his wife’s body as he worked on her body. The foreplay was hot and they both can’t wait to move to the next level. As Fullhouse was about to lowered himself into her, he remembered his condom but he knew what that means, it will turn off Ireoluwa’s mood and with the pleasure that he was getting at that moment he was not ready to trade it for anything, his gaze shifted to the image of the adorable baby on the bed sheet. “Fine, if you want to come, you are welcome.” He said in his head, looking at the baby’s image. Fullhouse entered into the paradise of his wife and the love making was hot, steamy and passionate; they couldn’t get enough of each other that night. Finally they slept in each other’s arms. ****** Iwalade’s friends, Temidun sent her younger sister, Lara to Iwalade’s house. The two are to go to do some shopping together to help the bride to-be get some stuff for the wedding. That was how Imisi got to meet Lara and the two bonded so well. They are same age and Lara is in her finals, preparing to leave higher institution. The two became friends and Lara who schooled in Lagos started frequenting Iwalada’s house just to see Imisi. Who doesn’t like a fine rich boy and Lara is not even seeing any guy as at that time. Iwalade noticed their closeness but didn’t say anything. She remembered telling Imisi that he is free to break up with her and move on if another person shows up. So she had prepared for the worst. ******* Ireoluwa resumed school and she was so happy to be back in school, she missed her coursemates especially Seth, they didn’t see for once all through the break as he travelled out of the country for his holiday, they only talk and chat online. Registration was ongoing, that was her third year, and as usual, Seth helped her out in some aspect of the registration which made it a bit less stressful for her. Two weeks later, lectures commenced fully, Ireoluwa drives herself to school everyday and everything was going on fine until the following week. Ireoluwa finished lecture as usual and drove home, two of her coursemates even boarded the car with her and she dropped them off at their hostel, then she took to the route to her house. She realized she couldn’t see the road clearly; she started feeling dizzy on the wheels. Truthfully, she didn’t take anything that day, not even a cup of water; she had planned to eat once she gets home. Ireoluwa had to park the car to rest a bit, the car AC was on. Then her phone rang,
it was her husband, Fullhouse. She sighed, she doesn’t want him to find out anything, she hates getting him worried unnecessarily especially when he is at work but she had no choice than to pick the call. “Hello sweetheart.” “Fullhouse.” She said trying to brazen herself up. “How far, I’m home, are you through in school?” “Yes, I’m on my way home.” She said looking at the road but she was still feeling dizzy, her vision is not very clear. “Ire, are you okay?” “Ehm….I think so.” “You think so! Babe you are not sounding fine.” “Yea….I’m kind of feeling dizzy but don’t worry. I pulled over to rest a bit.” “Ire, thank God I called, so you still plan to drive in that condition.” “Fullhouse…….” “Where are you?” He asked and she described the place. “Don’t drive, just stay there, I’ll take a bike now and I’ll come get you. Okay?” “Okay.” She said and he ended the call. Ten minutes later, Fullhouse alighted from the bike and paid the bike man hurriedly and rushed to his wife’s car. He opened the driver’s door. “Ire, are you okay?” He asked feeling her body temperature with the back of his palm. “I’m okay.” “Let’s get you to the hospital.” “No, let’s just go home; once I eat and relax, I’ll be fine.” “Are you sure?” He asked and she nodded. He helped her out of the car to the other side of the car and she sat at the front seat. He looked around and saw a mini super market; he got her a bottle of water and handed it to her. He went to the driver’s side, entered the car and took her home. When they got home, Fullhouse realized his wife has not eaten anything since morning; this got him angry because he had told her severally to stop skipping breakfast. This made him scold her; he then calmed down and then went into the kitchen to fix her something to eat. When she was through with the food, she went into the sitting room and lay on the sofa. Fullhouse joined her and held her hand. “I’m sorry for scolding you earlier.” “It’s understandable.” She said.
“You are not serious.” Fullhouse said and they both smiled, he knew Ireoluwa was mimicking her; he was so fond of using that word, although he doesn’t say it often lately. He pulled her up and made her seat on his lap like a baby, his wife is his baby, anyway. “I think I’m pregnant.” Ireoluwa said. “Obviously we are thinking in the same direction. I’ll take you to the hospital tomorrow morning.” He said. “I have 8:00am test tomorrow.” “Huh! So what do we do now?” “I’ll go to the hospital after the test.” “You want to drive again?” “I’ll be fine; I was dizzy because I didn’t eat all day.” “After all the warnings.” He said with sarcasm. “I’m sorry. I was craving yam porridge in the morning but I was already running late for lectures, so I thought, I’ll come prepare it when I returned, reason why I skipped breakfast.” Ireoluwa explained. “And once you are craving a particular food, you won’t get satisfaction if you eat any other food.” “Thank God you know that.” “Hmm…I only hope you won’t show me pepper when you get pregnant.” “Before nko.” She said and they laughed. “Fine, back to our discussion, call me immediately after the test. I’ll come pick you up. Also, I’ll drop you in school in the morning. No negotiation.” He said and she squeezed her face playfully. “Okay, as your lordship pleases.” She said feigning anger but he tickled her and she laughed. “Are you still craving the yam porridge?” He asked and she nodded like a child. He smiled, “Let me go fix it, we can take that for dinner.” He said and left for the kitchen. Ireoluwa went to her library; it’s a room she has set aside in the house for reading. She has all her books in there and a reading chair and table. She picked up her handout and started preparing for the test. The next day, after she was through writing the test, Ireoluwa called her husband who came to take her to the hospital. They met the doctor, Doctor Austin, who asked Ireoluwa some questions which she answered. After seeing the doctor, he directed them to the laboratory. The lab attendant took Ireoluwa’s blood samples in other to run some tests on her. They were asked to wait for the result, so they went back to the reception to wait. Some minutes later, the doctor called them in. Doctor Austin informed them that the result was ready.“Congratulations to the both of you, you are going to be parents.” He said. “Wow! Really!” Ireoluwa and Fullhouse said respectively. They were so overjoyed. “Yes, your wife is four weeks pregnant.” Doctor Austin stated. He gave them some dos and don’ts of pregnancy and the couple promised to do as the doctor says including registering for antenatal. They left the hospital and boarded the car. “Let’s take you home.” Fullhouse said. “Home! I have lectures; this is just some minutes to eleven.” She said, checking her wrist watch. “Ireolu…..” “I’m fine, just take me to school and go back to the office.” She said sternly, if not Fullhouse may not listen. “Fine, but I’ll take you to the eatery first, you need to eat.” “Okay, let’s go eat then.” She agreed and he turned on the ignition and drove to an eatery down the road. Ireoluwa said she wanted white rice and fresh fish and he got it for her. Then he drove her back to school. As he was driving, he realized she became quiet all of a sudden, someone who has been talking all along as he drives. “Sweetheart.” He called out but she was lost in thought. “Ireoluwa!” He called loudly and she jeered back. “Are you okay?” “Yes….yes, I’m fine.” He drove into the school compound and stopped in front of her department, Political science department. “Thanks.” She said to her husband as she unfastens the seat belt. As she was about to alight, Fullhouse took her left hand, and looked into her eyes. “My love.” “Hmmm….” She drawled, carrying a worried look. “We are carrying this pregnancy to term by God’s grace.” Fullhouse assured her. “By God’s grace.” She repeated. “If you believe, now, smile for me.” He said and she smiled. “Good, what do you want me to get for you?” “Hmm….pampering has started.” She laughed. “Which one is pampering has started; you know I always pamper you.” “True but you know what I mean. Anyway, I’ll let you know if I need anything.” She said, he gave her a peck and she alighted. Ireoluwa waved her husband goodbye and watched him zoom off.
