MORE THAN A CARVING CHAPTER 15

MORE THAN A CARVING
CHAPTER 15
Fullhouse and his wife cooked dinner together, ate and then went to bed; he quickly went to round up some things on his laptop and then joined his wife in bed. He drew her close to himself and cuddled her, he started making advances at her but Ireoluwa wasn’t responding, he tried harder to turn her on but to no avail and then he sat up angrily. “Ireoluwa, what exactly do you want, how best do you want me to explain this matter to you.” “I don’t need any explanation just give me what I want.” “What you want! Ireoluwa, stop being unreasonable!” “Fullhouse, you are just fretting over nothing.” “Really, I should even be the one complaining here and I said I am not in a hurry.” “I’m not in a hurry either but what’s the point of getting married early when we can get things done earlier and move on to other things in life.” “So, you won’t allow me touch you?” Fullhouse asked. “Not with that thing.” Ireoluwa said pointing to the object on the bedside table.” “Goodnight then.” He said and put off the light. The next morning, Ireoluwa’s friend and sister in-law called, it was a video call, and Oreoluwa prefers video call when calling her family members. These help her to see their faces because the truth is that there are times she misses home. When the video call was going on, Oreoluwa noticed she wasn’t happy but Ireoluwa couldn’t open up to her, he knew her husband won’t like it, after pressuring her, Ireoluwa had to lie to her that she wasn’t feeling too well just to let her off the hook. Oreoluwa even teased her to go and run a test incase she’s pregnant. They spoke at length which lightened her mood a bit. Ireoluwa asked about her studies and Oreoluwa told her that she has a year left and she is planning to come back to Nigeria after her graduation. Ireoluwa also asked her about her dating life and she said she hasn’t met anyone she likes. The two said their goodbyes and ended the video call. That same morning, Imisioluwa woke up, said his morning prayers and started preparing for work. After bathing, he picked his cologne and applied it to his neck and biceps, he enjoys smelling great. He wore a grey coloured three piece suit and a black Derby shoe. By the time he left the room, he saw Iwalade at the dining. “IB.” He said, surprised to see her at the dining. He thought she would still be in her room sleeping. “Good morning Imisi.” “Good morning.” He said and joined her at the dining. The smell of Imisi’s cologne filled her nostrils and she loves the smell, it was a lavender scent and that scent relaxes her. Imisioluwa noticed this but looked away. “I made breakfast, toast and tea.” She announced.
“Wow! But you don’t have to wake up early because of me.” “Well, I’m going back to sleep when you leave.” “I’ll eat it well, thanks.” “Enjoy.” She said and left the dining. He ate, cleared the table and announced he was leaving, so she came out of her room. “Let me have the gate key, so I won’t get to disturb you when I return in the evening.” Imisioluwa said. “Check the dining; I think I kept it there last night.” “I think I saw it there too.” He went back to the dining, he checked and the key was there. He picked the key from the dining and returned to her. “Call your Mum.” Iwalade said to him. “I will.” He said and gave her a peck on the cheek. His cologne filled her nostrils and she shivered briefly this time. “Take care.” Imisioluwa said. “I will and you too.” She replied and he left the house in his car. Imisioluwa had a wonderful day at work, business was great and everything went as planned. He returned home after the day’s work. He opened the gate himself and parked inside the compound and then went back to the gate to lock up. He went into the house using the spare key that Iwalade gave her the previous night and entered into the house. “IB, I’m back.” He said and went into the guest room; he showered and changed into a sweat pant and armless top. He stepped out of the room and look around but Iwalade was still out of sight. He then went to her door and knocked. “Come in.” She said and he entered. Iwalade was on phone when he entered, she only gestured for him to sit down on the sofa. That was Imisioluwa’s first time in her room; he looked around and then sat down. “You know what, I promise, I’ll talk to him.” Iwalade said to the person she was talking with on phone. “……Okay dear, have a wonderful night rest.” She said and the line went off. Iwalade dumped the phone on her well made bed and sighed. “Hope all is well?” Imisioluwa asked. “All is well. Welcome, how’s work today?” She asked. “Work is super fine.” He replied happily but stopped. “What’s with the face, are you all right?” Imisioluwa asked her. “I’m fine, what I heard just took me by surprise and I don’t even know how to go about it.” “Who called?” Imisioluwa asked.
“My cousin’s wife, Ireoluwa.” “The couple that stays in Ife.” He stated. “Yes.” She said and sighed again. “Do you want to talk about it?” “Don’t let me bother you with that, I can see you are happy tonight.” “Yea but you are not, so talk to me.” “Did you call Mummy?” “Yes, but don’t change the subject.” “I’m fine; it’s just that I don’t like it when couples have issues.” “We all know that having issues in marriage is inevitable.” “I know…..but she wants me to step in and the matter is kind of sensitive and I don’t know how to go about it.” “She knows you can handle it, that’s why she told you about it. Don’t you think?” He said trying to encourage her. “You are right but how do I tell my cousin to stop using protection when having sex with his wife.” “Wow! That’s a very sensitive issue indeed.” Imisioluwa admitted. “You see…..” “There would be a reason for his action. You have to know the reason first before you can address the issue.” He pointed out. “You are right, I know the reason anyway.” “Good, then you can take it up from there.” He encouraged her. “I can see you have a Ph.D. in marriage counseling, so tell me what to do.” “You mean me.” He laughed. “You are the marriage counselor here. Anyway, what happened? What led to this problem?” Imisioluwa asked. “Okay, I’ll tell you, even though I didn’t want to say anything about it to you before. Remember, when I spent a week with them, you said something about not given young couple privacy.” “Yes, I said so and you told me you were there to fix something, though you didn’t tell me what that thing was.” “Yeah, the thing is that Ireoluwa had a miscarriage and it happened after the burial, I was the only one who knew about it.” She explained. “I’m so sorry about that, I even taught they had a fight that you went to settle or something. That will be painful for the couple.”“Yea, it was a painful experience.” Iwalade said and explained everything Ireoluwa went through and how she was with her till she recuperated. Imisioluwa stood up from the where he was sitting, trying to do some thinking. “Your cousin is using protection to prevent his wife from getting pregnant; I’m thinking maybe he wants to give her body time to recuperate.” “If that is the case, she wouldn’t have called. I just have to find a way to step in because Ireoluwa said she had to call me since she didn’t know who to talk to.” “Then you’ll have to talk to your cousin, I believe he will have a very good reason for his actions.” “That, I will do. Now, you need to go take your dinner.” “Won’t you serve it?” “Serve ko, serve ni, you still think you are still a visitor abi. You better go to the kitchen and help yourself.” “I’m going nowhere without you.” He said and walked up to her; he took her by the hand and gently dragged her out of bed. “Imisi, leave me be nau.” “Let’s go jo.” He said and successfully got her out of bed and the two were facing each other, chest to chest, he drew her closer to himself and their eyes locked. “Imisi.” She said trying to warn him not to do anything funny.” “Kiss me.” “What!” “You heard me Iwalade, kiss me.”
