"ONCE UPON A TIME"

Rachel remembered the fire, it was a devouring fire. She remembered how she had seen the result of her betrayal and genuine tears had flowed ceaselessly....

Kachi had come up with the plan....

Kachi was to soak a cloth in petrol and then Rachel was to pay Redemption a visit afterwards.

Rachel was to put the cloth in her room very close to the window and Rachel did exactly that.

Kachi said she was going to finish up the job.

" What will you do afterwards?" Rachel remembered asking

" I will throw in a little fire, and she will choke to death!" Kachi had said

" Kill Redemption? No..
No!" Rachel said

" Just kidding... We can't kill her... We are doing something very subtle, the fire will just cause a few burns on her skin, that way Somadima will be less into her. No one wants to have a girlfriend who has burnt patches..." Kachi said enticingly.

Rachel remembered the good voice in her head telling her she was making a big mistake but the evil charge Kachi was constantly saying to her became the horse she rode on...

" You don't want to end up like my mother... You fight for what you want!" Kachi was constantly releasing this word into Rachel's soul.

Rachel remembered seeing Ominous dark clouds that friday evening. Kachi had given Rachel the fuel-soaked cloth, which Rachel successfully planted in Redemption's room.

Kachi had told Rachel earlier that day not to bother about the rest of the mission as she wanted the result to be a big surprise to her...

" Rachel, are you okay?" Rachel's mum had asked her that evening as she laid in her bed in fear.

" I am fine, I think I am coming down with a fever!" Rachel remembered lying to her mother. Her Mother had given her some fever relief pills.

Unknown to her mother, Uncertainty was what was giving her shivers that evening. A mixed feeling of fear and excitement dominated her mind as she kept watching the wall clock in her room tick away...Kachi had given her the impression that whatever she was going to do would be done around 7pm, but it was past 9pm already.

Rachel suddenly heard screams and loud explosive sounds... Rachel's heart suddenly felt like a big stone had been thrown at her chest...

" What has Kachi done?" Rachel asked as she rushed to window. Pulling aside the curtain of her room, Rachel saw red burning fire in the distance. Out of guilt, she ran back to her bed, laid there covering herself with a lot of Clothes.

Rachel felt the sudden presence of Redemption around her. It felt like she breezed into her room.

Rachel felt Redemption's presence and the feeling she got was the familiar feeling she normally get whenever Redemption was unhappy.

Rachel ran out of the room rushing towards Redemption's house.

Rachel saw Kachi from a distance, but she didn't have the strength to approach her as Rachel's heart failed her...

The sight before her was not what she would have ever wanted for anyone... Redemption had been trapped in the fire. Her aged father had gone in to bring her... Rachel saw the unrelenting angry fire scaring away anyone making attempts to come closer...

Redemption's aged mother kept passing out continuously. Whenever, she recovered from one passing out episode, and she saw the fire again, she would pass out again...

Eventually, Redemption's father brought her out but Rachel ran back in fear at the roasted look of her best friend and her father....

" No..no... Kachi...." Rachel was screaming...

The loud cries of well wishers didn't make people concentrate on her words of regrets. Kachi took the opportunity to get close to Rachel...

" You are a devil, Kachi!" Rachel screamed at the top of her voice

" This wasn't me!" Kachi replied looking remorse

" It was you!"

" I swear! I had a rethink so I didn't do it again. I gave my life to Christ this evening! Kachi said

Rachel believed Kachi was lying, not until the next morning when the word reaching her parents was that Redemption was reading with a candle, but that the candle fell on one of her clothes which instantly caught fire like the cloth had fuel on it...

Rachel realized, Kachi had been exonerated.

Rachel spent the next three days in her room pretending to be a pained bestfriend, when in real fact, she was hiding from her evil.
